April 2010 - Sand Hill in the Community: Ravenswood Family Health Center

Jane Williams was recently named to the Advisory Board of Ravenswood Family Health Center (RFHC), which provides health care for uninsured, low income families in southeastern San Mateo County regardless of their ability to pay or their immigration status. Ravenswood, based in East Palo Alto, has established an excellent comprehensive system that integrates primary medical care, prevention and health education with behavioral health counseling and dental services. Since opening its doors 8 years ago, RFHC has registered 26,000 people. The clinic provides care to over 10,000 men, women and children each year from two medical clinics and a mobile health van that travels to schools and serves the homeless one afternoon a week. Ravenswood’s Center for Health Promotion houses its health education team, membership services, and a health library contributed by Stanford. In April 2010, Ravenswood launched Ravenswood Family Dentistry, a state-of-the-art dental clinic that rivals the best in the County.
RFHC is fortunate to have major backing from key health partners -- Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Sequoia Healthcare District, Stanford Hospitals & Clinics, and San Mateo County Health System.
