January 2010 - Sand Hill in the Community

On December 15, the staff of Sand Hill Global Advisors turned off their computers, closed the office doors, and spent the afternoon assisting the dedicated volunteers at the Ecumenical Hunger Program (EHP) located in East Palo Alto. This 39-year-old private, non-profit, community-based organization provides emergency food, clothing, case management, and household essentials to families in need in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto. In addition, EHP plays a major role in both advocating for, and providing referrals to resources available to low-income families and individuals in our community. Thanks to the coordination efforts of Sand Hill’s Cynde Lee, we spent the afternoon sorting, packaging and distributing a selection of food to help East Palo Alto families through this year’s particularly difficult holiday season. Each of us came away with an even greater understanding of the consequences of a difficult economy, and an even greater appreciation of the individuals and organizations who are working together to help those in need in our community.
