January 2011 - Sand Hill in the Community

As a Board member for Kids’ Turn, Sand Hill Wealth Manager Jeff Abadie has worked to raise the profile of this organization both within Sand Hill and in the broader community.  Kids’ Turn is committed to offering services for Bay Area children of separated or divorced parents.  Currently their program extends to five counties, with a sixth to be added in 2011.  The unique Kids’ Turn model requires children and parents to attend six weeks of workshops—together. This approach demonstrates to children that their parents are committed to them and that they are still a priority despite the separation.  The sessions also help family members learn new skills for managing the changes in their daily lives such as schools, homes, and participation in activities.

Most recently, Sand Hill provided the underwriting to print the newly revised curriculum The Kids' Turn Way. Kids' Turn workshops are free to children; because there is very little attention paid to this issue by traditional social service systems, and because the number of low-income families needing services is increasing, support from the local community is critical. Sand Hill Global Advisors is committed to the mission of Kids' Turn, and will continue to support their efforts.
