October 2009 - Letter from the President

Sand Hill is gearing up for its 2010 Financial Forum! The success of our 2009 Forum, in the midst of the worst economic downturn since the Depression, confirmed what we believe: that our clients and colleagues are eager for information and understanding, particularly if it comes from a trusted source. Now, almost one year later, the discussion has evolved from “what the hell is going on” to “what did we learn.” Of course, the answer to both questions is complex; neither can be answered completely by Sand Hill Global Advisors or any other single group or individual. So as we did last year, we will look at just one piece of the puzzle: what did we learn about investor psychology and how do our thoughts and emotions affect our investment decisions?
