Sand Hill Senior Portfolio Manager and Partner, Sara Craven, was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association Northern California and Northern Nevada Chapter. The Alzheimer’s Association is America’s leading non-governmental provider of support and education for patients, families and healthcare professionals dealing with the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s and related disorders. Programs such as 24/7 Toll Free Hotline, Care Consultation, Support Groups, Early Stage Programs, Education Programs and Publications, and MedicAlert + Safe Return are only a few of the many services offered. Additionally, as the largest private funder of Alzheimer’s research, they have funded over $220 million in Alzheimer science over 25 years.

More than 5 million Americans currently have Alzheimer's. In addition, 78 million baby boomers are approaching the age of greatest risk for developing this fatal disease. If no cure or prevention is found, by mid-century, 16 million Americans will likely have Alzheimer's. Sara and thousands of other volunteers give their time and resources - whether it is participating in a Memory Walk, manning a Help Line, providing office help, or supporting public education and awareness programs - to make sure this frightening projection does not become reality.
