James Cross is a Portfolio Associate at Sand Hill Global Advisors, where he helps manage client investment portfolios, monitors capital markets, and conducts research across a broad range of investment topics. He enjoys the constant opportunity to learn and dig deeply into questions raised by clients, prospects, and Wealth Managers. His role requires developing informed perspectives on a wide range of subjects, from emerging technologies to changing macroeconomic environments. James brings strong communication skills from his previous experience in client service, along with a keen attention to detail when preparing performance reports and analyzing investment data.
Before joining Sand Hill, James was a Client Service Analyst at Baker Street Advisors. His interest in wealth management grew from a desire to help people, while his background in economics sparked an interest in how capital markets function and interact. Studying for and passing the CFA Level I exam further strengthened his interest in investing and led him toward a more research- and analytical-focused career. James earned a B.S. in Economics with minors in Data Science and Business Fundamentals from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He was drawn to Sand Hill by the firm’s strong emphasis on clients, collaborative culture, and community-oriented environment.
Outside of Sand Hill, James enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible, particularly fishing, surfing, and golfing. He is also a fan of the San Francisco Giants and enjoys listening to music, especially classic rock and reggae on a sunny day.
